Sardine Festival Has The Greatest Number Of Participants

The Sardine Festival has reached a new record which sums up to 133,404 people that came this year. The 6-day event was full of fun and activities where different kinds of games were conducted. There is no doubt that the event was a success due to such a huge turnout. The highest number of participants was recorded on the last day of the festival, which was the 4th of August. A total of 28,031 people were recorded to attend the festival on the last day.

One reason for such a higher turnout for the last day can be the appearance of Delfins. Delfins is a pop band which consists of 6 members. The lead vocalist is Miguel Ângelo while the other members of the group are Rui Fadigas, Fernando Cunha, Silvestre Magalhães, Pedro Molkov, and João Carlos Magalhães. Delfins are on a tour to celebrate their 40th anniversary. Their performance in the festival might be one of the reasons why most people came on the last day of the Sardine festival.

The municipality has stated that this number does not include the people who visited the nearby restaurants and other venues that took part in the riverside of the Portimão area. The Sardine festival will be back next year but this time the dates of the festival are selected to be between 5th August to 10th August.
