Although, the country gets a lot of benefits from such funding it aims to take more speaking power among the EU countries. There are discussions in the EU about how to start financing joint investments and representatives from Portugal should be present.
Portugal To Participate In EU Meetings
Portugal wants to be a part of all the plans and meetings of the European Union (EU). They want to have a say in joint investments like the defense industry where financial discussions are held. There is a report published by the former Prime Minister of Italy, Mario Draghi about community competitiveness. This report was published in Brussels and the main criterion of the report is the debt in the EU. This is due to the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic which caused a huge loss to many countries.
Mario Draghi has calculated that there is an additional investment of 800 billion Euros in the EU. This is equal to more than 4% of the GDP of the European Union. There are discussions ongoing among the EU countries about how to handle such types of funds. There should be a decision made very soon about the handling of such a budget.
