The Minister of Infrastructure and Housing in Portugal, Miguel Pinto Luz gave an official statement after receiving the first of the 14 triple units at Lisbon Metro:

There have been no new trains on the Metro for 22 years and this one had a huge particularity […] because it is the decades and decades of knowledge of the Lisbon Metro that also allowed these new trains to be designed. The drivers contributed to designing the cabins and the entire Metro designed and helped improve these triple units, and that is a source of pride.

Mr. Miguel Pinto Luz also said that the carriages are newer models. The design also varies from the previous ones because there is a 20-year difference. The newer trains will also have telemetry abilities. These abilities can be used to monitor the activities that are occurring inside the carriageway.

Newer Trains Will Have Option Of Automatic Driving

The new trains will have a facility that can offer automatic driving of trains. This can be a way to ease the job of train drivers as well. The infrastructure minister also stated:

This is the beginning of a new era, as I wrote in the Metro guest book, and it is the beginning of a new era that leaves everyone very satisfied. The Metro is preparing for this future. Lisbon will be better served, and, above all, it is the modal shift that the Government never tires of talking about.

The government should advise the citizens to pursue using these trains frequently. This will increase the carbon neutrality goals. The authorities at the Lisbon Metro have stated that a total of 14 triple units will arrive in total and the total cost for these newer model trains is 72.7 million euros. The ultimate goal is to get these trains in service by 25th January.
