The office of the representative of the Republic for this autonomous region announced on Saturday that the President of the Republic has been informed about the situation of the Madeira fire and has expressed concern and solidarity.

The representative of the Republic has been constantly informing His Excellency the President of the Republic, who has conveyed his great concern and solidarity.
The representative stated that he has constantly monitored the evolution of the fires affecting the region since the 14th. He added that Ireneu Barreto received updates from the Regional Government, Civil Protection Service, and Operational Commanding General of Madeira.

This official also expresses solidarity with the population that is being affected by the fires. Furthermore, he appreciated the work of firefighters, local authorities, and civil protection members who are committed to fighting the fire.
Madeira is being affected by a fire that began on Wednesday morning – 14th August and has reportedly burnt 2,182 Hectares. The origin of this fire is located in difficult to access remote area of the Serra de Água parish in the municipality of Ribeira Brava. The fire has since spread to the neighboring municipality of Câmara de Lobos.
The Current Situation Of Madeira Fire
The regional secretary for Civil Protection said that by early Saturday evening, more than 100 firefighters from all of Madeira’s fire departments, supported by 37 vehicles, were fighting the three active fronts of the fire.
In a press conference at the Regional Civil Protection Service in Funchal, Pedro Ramos reported that, in addition to 108 firefighters, there were 21 members of the Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation. He added that four GNR officers with eight vehicles, and 11 PSP officers with an additional eight vehicles are also on the ground.
Additionally the the governor provided an update on the fire saying that the fire, which began on Wednesday morning in Ribeira Brava and spread to Câmara de Lobos the following day is being dealt with on three fronts. He reported that:
