Faro Municipal Museum Will Be Reopened On 15 August For The Public

Faro Museum to reopen by the government on the 15th of August, Thursday. This day is chosen as it is the day of Our Lady of the Assumption. On this day in the 16th Century, the patron saint of the former female convent was founded.

The Museum Has Been Renovated

The museum was closed for renovation works in the building. Renovation is being made to improve the accessibility of the museum. There are some new installations as well like new ramps, elevators, flooring, and much more.

Although the museum was closed during the renovation, work was still being done. All the activities were carried out outside the main door of the museum. This work was being taken care of by the research and inventory teams. Any day that served as an important significance to the museum was celebrated. The educational services and archeology were presented outside the museum doors.

The public was always there for any significant day that the museum was celebrating. The museum did not miss any historic dates and always prepared for celebrations. Finally, the museum will be reopened as all the renovations are finished. It will carry out all the activities inside the museum from 15 August onwards. It will be open to the public. You can see the national treasures and collections that are kept safe inside the museum.

The Renovation Has Cost Around Half A Million Euros

The museum will have some new features. You must visit the completely new, renovated Faro Museum. The reopening day will allow the public to enter the newer version of the museum. The renovations of the museum have cost around half a million Euros.

You can check the new conditions of the reception. There have been some changes around the main entrance of the museum so be sure to check them out. The timings of the Faro Municipal Museum will remain the same. For those who want to know the visiting hours as Faro Museum to reopen, should check below:

  • Tuesday to Friday (10:00 in the morning to 18:00 in the evening)
  • Saturday to Sunday (10:30 in the morning to 17:00 in the evening)

The Faro Municipal Museum will not be open on Monday. The timing for the weekend is lesser than that of the weekdays so plan your trip accordingly. You should definitely check the museum to find out about the diverse culture and heritage of the Faro Museum.

What Are The Latest Renovations In The Museum?

The Faro Museum includes renovations like details of the project, musical performances, and two new exhibitions that will be introduced. The first exhibition is “Sacred and Profane in the Museum’s Collections” which showcases the religious theme of the exhibition. It also mentions historic idols, an African figure related to spirits called “Nkisi”.

The second exhibition is called “Vinte e Cinco Palavras ou Menos”. This is a photography collection of Luís Palma. It portrays freedom, politics, the biases of society, and much more intense topics.

A third exhibition will be displayed but it will be unveiled on 17th of August. This exhibition will have around 50 displays. The main theme of this exhibition is a portrayal of society’s way of dealing with moral behaviors and values.
