Faro Museum to reopen by the government on the 15th of August, Thursday. This day is chosen as it is the day of Our Lady of the Assumption. On this day in the 16th Century, the patron saint of the former female convent was founded.
The Museum Has Been Renovated
The museum was closed for renovation works in the building. Renovation is being made to improve the accessibility of the museum. There are some new installations as well like new ramps, elevators, flooring, and much more.
Although the museum was closed during the renovation, work was still being done. All the activities were carried out outside the main door of the museum. This work was being taken care of by the research and inventory teams. Any day that served as an important significance to the museum was celebrated. The educational services and archeology were presented outside the museum doors.

What Are The Latest Renovations In The Museum?
The Faro Museum includes renovations like details of the project, musical performances, and two new exhibitions that will be introduced. The first exhibition is “Sacred and Profane in the Museum’s Collections” which showcases the religious theme of the exhibition. It also mentions historic idols, an African figure related to spirits called “Nkisi”.
The second exhibition is called “Vinte e Cinco Palavras ou Menos”. This is a photography collection of Luís Palma. It portrays freedom, politics, the biases of society, and much more intense topics.
A third exhibition will be displayed but it will be unveiled on 17th of August. This exhibition will have around 50 displays. The main theme of this exhibition is a portrayal of society’s way of dealing with moral behaviors and values.
