AIMA Demands To Cut Overtime

The workers in AIMA have collectively spoken about the lack of resources present in the agency. The people feel that some of these resources have been lacking since the start of the organization. The leader of FNSTFPS, Artur Cerqueira has spoken to the press about this situation. He believes that the strike will go on till the end of the year.

What led us to take this decision were the problems that have been occurring at AIMA since it began operating, which are closely linked to the lack of staff.

He believes that the government has provided shorter staff in the organization. This can lead to work being delayed. It may affect the progress of the overall mission. The government has also announced a new plan for dealing with immigration issues. This will create more pressure on AIMA workers. The government pressures the workers to resolve the pending cases. This is not possible with much shorter manpower in the office.

Artur further highlights the issue of the regularization of mediators. He thinks that help can be sought from non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and other services as a secondary source. He thinks that this will resolve the issue. It will also be a great help in clearing pending cases.

AIMA Workers Are Pressured To Work Overtime

The union leader has raised his voice for his workers. He informs that workers are being pressured by their supervisors to work overtime. He further added that a civil servant will not in any condition refuse to work extra. That is the reason for the call for a strike. The strike will be held between 22 August to 31 December. His demand is as follows:

From now on, each worker can decide whether or not to accept working these overtime hours.

FNSTFPS has provided a list of problems that are being faced in AIMA. They demand that the problems in the list should be resolved on urgent matters. These problems include a lack of any kind of communication, lack of regulation, and undersized teams among other issues.  The union leader believes that these issues lead to extra stress on the workers. He deems it a health hazard. The leader of the union believes that a safe environment should be provided for work.

Many Workers Continue To Work Overtime Without Being Paid

There has been a documentary which shows that most of the workers are working overtime. The legal working hours set by the country are 150 hours as AIMA calls for strike. The documentary shows most of the workers have exceeded the 150-hour mark. The worst news is that they are working overtime without even getting paid. The union has released their official statement as follows:

The Federation believes that the situation we have reached is the result of a set of erroneous policies by several governments. The important and urgent thing is for the government to assume its responsibilities and that all measures must be taken, as a matter of urgency, putting an end to the trampling on the rights of workers and citizens.
