Riots Might Start If Immigration Situation Is Not Controlled

André Claro Amaral Ventura, the President of the Chega party in Portugal has clearly stated that the demonstration was just a beginning. Last week, there was a massive protest by the people against the rise in immigrants. Citizens believe that they are losing their national identity due to the inflow of immigrants.

These demonstrations took place at Rossio, located in Lisbon. It is estimated that these demonstrations lasted for 1 and a half hours. They were led by the Chega party in Portugal. The President of the party himself came on the stage and reminded people to chant about their purpose for the demonstration. He wanted to give a clear message to everyone in Europe. He urged all the people to shout and stated the following while being on stage:

The whole of Europe needs to hear from Lisbon.

This protest took place on 29th September which was led by the Chega party. The senior leaders of the party have stated that one demonstration against these immigrants will not solve the problem. They have urged us to take action to resolve the issue. That is why they have expressed that this is only a start.

Immediate Action Must Be Taken

The demonstration was attended by many people, and it sent messages all over Portugal. Chants of “Reconquista, Reconquista” were heard all over the protest. This is the name of an ultra-nationalist group. André Ventura stated that the country believes one demonstration is not enough but the message that he has sent is loud and clear. He believes that this was one of the greatest movements by the biggest party in Portugal. He also stated:

“The country often says that one swallow does not make a spring, one demonstration does not make a spring. But it is this Lusitanian Spring, this Portuguese spring that I want you to have in your hearts from today on the greatest movement ever, to reconquer the national soul, to reconquer our identity, and to reconquer this flag.

Demonstration March Against Immigrants

There was a demonstration march carried out by the Chega party. This was initially planned earlier but it was postponed to 29 September. The President of the party delayed the march due to the ongoing fire situation within the country. He believed that many people who wanted to participate were still busy in the rescue operations in the country.

André Ventura said that this immigration issue is also very important. That is why he did not want the public to miss out on another important issue. This march was then carried out yesterday which is believed to be a success. A lot of people attended the march due increasing immigrants.
