A forest fire broke out in Outeiro Seco, Chaves municipality, Vila Real district this Saturday. The reports claim that the forest area caught fire at 1:41 pm. It grew massive in just minutes. There are 100 operators, with 31 vehicles and two aerial resources working to extinguish it.
The National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (Prociv) has labeled the fire a significant occurrence. The Chaves fire has been burning for more than three hours with over 15 protection resources in place. The situation is still developing without a defined area limitation.

Action Taken Against Chaves Fire
A source from the Alto Tâmega and Barroso Sub Regional Command confirmed the involvement of 100 operatives. They are using 31 vehicles to fight the fire on-site. Moreover, a source from the Flavienses Volunteer Firefighters confirmed that they sent 20 operatives with four vehicles to the site.
He also mentioned that more units are present on site. However, he couldn’t specify which ones or if any homes are at risk. Furthermore, Prociv claims that 103 operational personnel are on site, with 31 vehicles and two aircraft.
