The Wanderlust travel magazine has started the Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards. This award has recently nominated Lisbon, the capital of Portugal in the category of “Most Desirable European City” list.
Lisbon Nominated for Most Desirable European City
Lisbon has been selected for the Most Desirable European City Award. This is such a great honor for the Portuguese. The capital of Portugal is selected for this award based on prestigious destinations, tour operators, and the lifestyle of Lisbon.
Paula Oliveira, the executive director of Tourism in Lisbon was fascinated to see his city being selected for the Most Desired European City. He addressed the citizens where he stated:
Lisbon is a leading tourist destination, and this nomination reinforces its positioning. With a multifaceted offer, it combines tradition with innovation, always seeking to offer new experiences to those who visit. In Lisbon, visitors can choose to explore many different experiences, from cultural heritage to nightlife, from beaches to shopping, gastronomy, and wines, in a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere.
How Can You Vote for Lisbon
The voting has started for these awards. The deadline to vote in this category is 18th October 2024. Voting for these awards is open to the public and any citizen in the world can vote for their favorite city in this category. Wander Lust Reader Travel Awards are scheduled to be held on 6th November, just 19 days after the voting deadline approaches. The ceremony for the awards will be held in the Tate Modern Museum, which is located in London, England.
Croatia was the country that received the award of Most Desirable European City in 2023. Dubrovnik, a city in Croatia received the award in the same category last year that Lisbon is now nominated for. It came out victorious among many countries. Croatia won the award due to its rich culture, heritage, and history of Dubrovnik. These traits are found in Lisbon as well, which makes the city more prone to win the award.
Last year’s ceremony was held in the British Museum on 7th November. This ceremony was scheduled during the event of the World Travel Market which is considered the biggest travel and tourism event in the world. All eyes are now on Lisbon as it is one of the favorites to win the award. Portuguese are advised to go and vote now for Lisbon to make their city win this category.
