Directorate-General for Health (DGS) has announced that over 700,000 people have received vaccinations for flue & Covid-19. The agency also informed that more than 500,000 people have received the booster dosage of Covid-19 since 20 September.
Citizens Receive Flue And COVID-19 Dosage
The DGS report has stated that 521,713 people have received a booster dose for Covid-19. This dose will protect them from any uncertain situation by improving their immune system. The report also generated that 336,354 people out of the total number have received this dose in pharmacies. The rest 185,356 people took this dose in the National Health Service (SNS) units.

Many citizens also got vaccinations for the flu virus. A total of 722,407 people has taken the vaccinations so far as reported until last Sunday. 218,704 people were vaccinated in various pharmacies in the country. The rest 185,356 people got their vaccinations from the National Health Services (NHS).
Rise In Vaccination Rates
The weekly report of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) has stated that there has been an increase in the vaccination rate since last week. More than 270,000 people have come forward to get vaccinated for Covid-19. There were more than 370,000 people who came for their flu vaccinations. Most of these vaccinated people are in the age group 85 years old or more than that. This age group accounts for 22.14% of the vaccinations for Covid-19 and 27.44% for the flu.
This number decreases as you go through the vaccination record for young people. The number of vaccinations accounted for between the ages of 60 and 69 years old is only 11.52% for Covid-19. This same group has 15.78% of vaccinations for the flu. The campaign for the seasonal vaccination started on 20 September. Since then, five million vaccines have been registered in the name of Covid-19 and flu.
More Pharmacies Join To Help
Many more pharmacies are joining the cause to eradicate diseases like Covid-19 and flu. This year, more than 25 pharmacies have joined the cause with health centers. This makes the total number of pharmacies 2,519 which will be working with the health centers to offer vaccines for citizens. These vaccines are now being offered to all patients who are aged between 60 years old and 84 years old.
The campaign for this year 2024/2025 will feature a booster dose of the flu vaccination. This will also be given to people who are aged more than 85 years old. The main targets of the governmental organizations are nursing homes and other similar establishments. Institutions organized by the National Network of Integrated Continuing Care (RNCCI) will also be looked after by these pharmacies and health centers.
The Portuguese Government is willing to spend around 7.6 million Euros on the vaccinations of Covid-19 and flu. They aim to get more people vaccinated by the end of November than that of the last year. These vaccinations will be available at the pharmacies and the health centers. Citizens are urged to visit these pharmacies to get their vaccinations done as soon as possible.
