Countries that are part of the European Union must contribute funds to it. However, 17 countries have received more community share than they have contributed. Portugal is one of those 17 nations that are part of the European Union.
Each Portuguese To Receive 216 Euros
The European Union budget for 2023 was collected and distributed to its member nations. The Institute for German Economics has published a report regarding this matter. It states that Portugal received 2,227 million Euros in total. Now if you divide this value by the total population of the country, which is around 10.6 million in 2023. You will get a value of 215.94 Euros. This means that each Portuguese will get 215.94 Euros.

The European countries that are part of the European Union are getting benefits. Germany is still the largest net contributor from the European Union Nations. The largest Beneficiary is earned by Poland.
Poland gets many benefits by staying in the European Union. In the previous year, Poland was the largest beneficiary for net value. It received 8,154.20 million Euros in total. Romania and Hungary were just behind a few billion. Romania received 5,994.02 million Euros and Hungary received 4,561.5 million Euros.
The headquarters of the European Union is in Brussels, Belgium. Some countries even got their negative share of net balance from the European Nations. A total of 10 countries that are part of the European Union have been receiving a negative share. These 10 countries who receive negative net share are as follows:

How Are Other EU Countries Benefiting
Germany still enjoys being the largest net contributor to the European Union as it gave 17,433.48 million Euros. It also receives back in return from the EU. France is the second largest net contributor to the European Union. It gave 8,957.14 million Euros more than it received back from the EU. The third country which contributes the most is Italy. It gave 4504.37 million Euros to the EU.
Only Italy has a net contribution per person below 100. It has contributed 76.35 Euros per person. Ireland has outperformed Germany in terms of net payments per capita. It had 236.08 euros compared to 206.28 euros for Germany.
The beneficiary list of 17 countries continues with Estonia which will receive 626.90 Euros per citizen if the money is divided equally. The second place goes to Croatia which will receive 602.18 Euros per citizen. The third country to benefit from the EU is Latvia which will receive 601.67 Euros per citizen.
Portugal ranks 12th Country among the EU members. It has received this rank for both the net per capita value and Gross National Income (GNI). As stated earlier, it will receive 215.94 Euros for each citizen. This value corresponds to 0.86% of the Gross National Income (GNI) as Portugal receives 2,227 million Euros.
