The party said in a statement on Friday.

It is vital to assess political responsibilities regarding decisions that may have contributed to the significant impact and long duration of the fire.

Furthermore, Livre also announced that it will propose measures to protect the forest, landscape and biodiversity of the Autonomous Region of Madeira. They also mentioned reinforcing the need for prevention and preparation of the territory based on evidence.

This approach could help determine whether a more aggressive response and an early request for assistance might have prevented this outcome.

Although Livre has no representation in the Regional Legislative Assembly of Madeira, the party emphasized the urgent need for a recovery plan for the burned areas. They pointed out that not only has the Laurissilva Forest been affected, but also parts of the Natura 2000 Network and the Madeira Natural Park.

Moreover, Livre expressed its support for the creation of an independent technical observatory. The party argued that this observatory could provide useful information to avoid situations like the Madeira fire. They further said:

the importance of a public regional health system that can now ensure the most important thing: the health and well-being of the population, especially the most vulnerable people.

They also highlighted the impact on agricultural activities and the stability of soils in the burnt areas, stressing that the damage extends beyond the immediate environmental loss. The note from Livre said.

Livre expresses its solidarity with the population of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, the people affected by the fire, and all the people who have fought the flames and will seek to be an active part of the necessary, but inevitably difficult, environmental recovery after these devastating fires.

They also praised the authorities for their contributions saying:
