She believes that the National Health Service can be improved, and the services can be much better. The minister has said:

We need to make a new structural change, creating an evolving SNS.

The health minister has given a speech at the Olive Tree Watering Ceremony which is located in Coimbra. SNS should have a solid structure that will maintain the core values and strengthen the department. The minister thinks that it is essential to renew the structural changes in the SNS so it can be much stronger than before. The minister also stated:

A change that must start now, but being honest, it’s a change for more than just one legislature.

A new structure of the SNS will be created that will evolve the SNS and make it much better than before. Ana Paula Martins believes that the structural changes will be according to the changes that can unite people. She wants to make such arrangements that will unite both the people and the political parties. A permanent solution is required rather than a temporary one.

Minister Explains ‘Change’ In SNS

The Minister of Health has defined the changes that he will incorporate into the SNS. He wants to bring major changes to the SNS, and he has assured the citizens that this is more than just words. Martin believes that maintaining constitutional values is very important while defining the role of SNS. Many health systems are also being brought with many changes to improve the system.

National Health Service (SNS) can be made better by digitalizing the system because change is inevitable. Many new systems are being digitalized because the future is here. The health system can be made much better if technology is involved in it. It can be much faster to bring up the results of some tests or to operate with much better technology. More usage of the technology will bring the citizens much closer to SNS who want to serve people the right way. What better way there is than to modernize the system for the betterment of the patients?

In response to a question concerning senior citizens’ access to modern technology, the minister stated that the Ministry of Health is “developing many telemonitoring tools“. This is because of Portugal’s ageing population. Modern technology which involves digital means should be used to constructively add human intelligence. This will overall improve the system and be better than the ones used before. Ana Paula Martins has stated:

We are increasingly transforming the digital aspect of our SNS, which will allow us to have a completely different relationship with citizens, being closer to them, and being closer means being more vigilant and achieving better health outcomes
