Big Court Decision Announced To Rule Against Ryanair

Ryanair Airlines had decided to charge extra fees for those passengers who were carrying their cabin bags. This was called an unfair expense by the passengers and the decision was taken to court. The Braga District Court has ruled against Ryanair Airlines. ANAV has appreciated this decision of the Braga District Court.

ANAV, National Association of Travel Agencies has been quite happy to hear the decision of the Braga District Court. The judges of the court were quite adamant about this decision, and they said that this decision by Ryanair Airlines was a clear violation of the rights of customers.

The National Association of Travel Agencies had called on the airlines to end the “abusive practices” for charging their customers with extra fees. This decision by the Court has relieved the travel agents and the customers as well.

President Of Association Has Given His Say

The President of the association, Miguel Quintas has deemed the decision of the court as fair. He believes that the Braga Court has made the right decision, and this decision is fair for the customers of the airline. The President stated:

[Braga Court] proves and reinforces ANAV’s calls for Ryanair to backtrack on respecting the Portuguese market, travel agencies, and their customers.

He also reported that this issue of overcharging the customers for the cabin bags was on their agenda. They received the news about the extra fee of Ryanair, and they decided to take action for it. He believes that this decision from the Braga Court is a major boost for them. Miguel also stated:

This issue of the illegality of charging additional fees for cabin bags was already on our agenda, which has now been boosted by the Braga Court’s decision. However, it does not end there.

ANAV Already Announced To Solve The Issue

The ANAV had already announced that they were collecting data from various travel agencies about the complaints of Ryanair Airline. The information was being stored from various travel agencies in the local market. They aimed to launch an official complaint so legal action could be taken against the airline. The President of the Association, Miguel Quintas stated that he would announce the news about this complaint very soon. He said that the strategy for ANAV is to fight legal battles against anyone who is causing trouble to their customers.

The size of the company does not matter as long as the interest of travel agencies and customers is being challenged. This is unfair to the customers who were forced to pay extra money for the cabin bags. This practice was not upheld by any other airlines, so it was against the rules of airlines. That is why the Braga District Court ruled against Ryanair Airlines.

ANAV will further look into this matter. They are collecting all the information regarding Ryanair, whose customers have complained about several issues. This issue will be looked at as it is promised by the President of the Association, Miguel Quintas.
