Work has already been started to make the primary school into a new municipal nursery. This nursery will be able to cater for around 107 children. This has been communicated by the municipal council of Abrantes in the Santarém district. The project of the daycare center has begun and it took almost an year to complete the preparations of the construction site.

Mayor of Abrantes, Manuel Jorge Valamatos claimed that there is a lot of demand for the daycare center. He believes that along with a lot of private supply, the demand for the daycare center has also increased. This is why he believes that the expansion of such supply should be taken care of. He further stated that the municipality has taken some financial support from the surrounding community to renovate the primary school to make a new nursery on it’s place.

Mayor Of Abrantes Gives His View

The mayor of Abrantes, Manuel Jorge Valamatos has talked to the media about this new construction. He said that he started this project because there was some funding that was guaranteed for some time. This is why construction is being started right away. He also commented on the number of jobs this project will create. He believes that this project will offer 40 jobs and will accommodate around 107 children. The exact detail of this model is not yet known to the mayor but he believes that this project is worth the investment. He also stated:

We hope that in the next school year, from next September to a year, we will be able to have this nursery up and running, which would be absolutely extraordinary.

Model Of The New Daycare Center

This model of the new Daycare center will have around 107 beds for `07 children. 1 bed will be allotted to each child. There will be 3 separate rooms which will be divided among different age groups of children. A nursery will be dedicated for those kids who are still learning to walk or are 24 months old. The project also has some covered space for outdoor activities. This space has the ability to carry out activities even during the rain. The municipality also commented on the drainage system and the surrounding space by stating:

Intervention will also be carried out on the entire drainage system of the building and the exterior space surrounding the school to improve the safety of the supporting walls surrounding the land.
