Afro Nation is the biggest Afrobeats event worldwide. They named its first two headliners for the Afro Nation Portugal 2025. Burna Boy and Tems will play on the LIT Stage at Praia da Rocha, Portimão, from July 9 to 11, 2025. The 2025 version marks the festival’s fifth anniversary and its organizers are planning a special event for fans.

Burna Boy Comeback To Afro Nation
The Burna Boy who is renowned as the African Giant was taking a break from the concert last year. will return to Afro Nation after taking a break from the concert last year. He is one of the most famous African singers and has helped promote Afrobeats around the world.
In the last several years, Burna Boy has performed at major events and broke many records. He has played on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury which is one of the big music events in the world.
He also got a number of albums released in the UK that is a big achievement for any artist. Afro Nation fans eagerly await his return because of his exciting live performances, which consistently attract big crowds.
The Malachite Group (TMG) which organizes the festival is extremely pleased to have Burna Boy return for the special anniversary celebration. They said in their announcement:

Burna Boy has been a part of Afro Nation since when it started. His visit to Portugal in 2025 is likely to be another remarkable event.

Burna Boy was there at the birth of the movement on the beach in 2019. He was there for the moving post-pandemic return of the festival in 2022. He was also there, flying the flag with Afro Nation in Ghana, Miami and Detroit as part of his road to world domination. Burna Boy’s headline show at Afro Nation Portugal will be yet another special moment to remember.
Tems Debut As A Headliner
The popular Nigerian musician Tems will be performing with Burna Boy on the LIT Stage. Tems will be hosting Afro Nation Portugal for the first time in 2025. She has become one of the most famous Afrobeats performers of today because of her strong voice and unique style.
Tems is the first female African singer who get a Grammy Award and also top the Billboard Hot 100 list. She gained international fame with her feature on Wizkid’s hit song Essence which became a global Afrobeats anthem.
She collaborated with Beyoncé and Grace Jones on the song MOVE, which appears on Beyoncé’s Renaissance album in 2022. Her fame increased when she released the album Born in the Wild in 2023. Asake and J Cole are among the artists who collaborated on the album.
Her music keeps captivating fans across the world, and her debut appearance at Afro Nation Portugal is highly awaited.
Piano People Stage Return
The festival will once again bring back the Piano People stage. This stage is dedicated to amapiano which is a popular genre that originated in South Africa. The Piano People stage will feature the active sounds of amapiano and showcase DJs and singers who bring fresh energy to the genre.
One of the most liked African music genres is Amapiano music. The lineup for the Piano People stage has not been announced yet.
Fans can get pre-sale tickets which will go live on October 2 at 10 am BST. Those who want early access should get these immediately as these tickets will sell out quickly. For anyone who missed the pre-sale, the general sale will begin on October 3 at the same time, offering another chance to purchase tickets.
