Portugal received a warning for flooding as the country expects intense rain in the upcoming weeks. Climatologists have indicated the flooding of public roads and homes. Rain is expected to be more intense in urban areas as Portugal flood warning has been issued.
Flood Warning In Portugal
Portugal is on the brink of flooding as expert climatologists have suggested a risk of flooding in the country. Recently, Spain was affected by floods which caused a lot of damage in the country. The citizens fear from the incoming rain which might flood some of the Portuguese regions. The local authorities have assured the public about the flooding.

The cold winds which traveled to Spain are now headed to Portugal. A climatologist, Mário Marques has informed about the dangers of the upcoming rain. The weather predictions showed rain, high winds, and even snow at the high points in Portugal. He assured the news channel that there should be no concern regarding the upcoming rain as it will be totally under control. He stated:
Of course, this depression is already entering the central part of the territory and will affect the Estrela system and other systems, where it may snow above 1,200 meters, especially from the late afternoon or early evening onwards.
This will lead the depression to move towards another national territory. The major regions that will be affected by this rainfall are the coast of Alentejo, Algarve, and Setúbal. Although it is expected that the depression will bring continuous rain and strong winds, the situation will be under control. Mário stated:
These will be the most affected regions, especially on the night of the 14th, in the early hours and morning of the 15th, and throughout the 15th.
Intense Weather In Central & Southern Portugal
The weather in the south and central Portugal will be much more intense as compared to other regions of the country. According to the weather forecast, the weather in the North will be a lot calmer than in the South. Intense rain should be expected for tonight and tomorrow morning only. Rest of the days, North Portugal will experience occasional showers.
Therefore, the climatologist has warned about the risk of flooding of local roads. The rain is expected to fall with more intensity in the urban areas. However, Mário Marques has assured the public that there will no scenario which is similar to the one that happened in Spain. Some of the Spanish cities have even faced casualties due to the intense floods in the country. Upon receiving the question of whether Portugal could potentially face a situation like Spain, Mario strictly said no. he stated:
It is a perfectly normal situation to occur in the autumn. It is at this time of year that this type of situation is most likely to occur.
Recent Floods In Spain
Spain was the victim of floods recently where some of the cities in Spain were more affected. Valencia was the most affected area in the country. Tarragona and Málaga were also registered as major affected areas. If you combine both these cities, it still cannot compare with what happened in Valencia. Spain has been warned again of a major breakdown of floods in a second spell. Thousands of people have been evacuated due to a second warning of floods. The second spell will target both Spain and Portugal as heavy rain is expected to start from tomorrow.
According to reports, eastern, southern, and central Portugal will be the main targets for the second spell of rain. While southern Spain faces another challenge from the incoming rain. People from Costa del Sol are still being evacuated from their homes. The National Weather has indicated both Malaga and Catalonia as the most affected regions. A high alert has begun in both Portugal and Spain. Both countries are bracing for a major impact of rainfall in the upcoming rainfall.
