Murder Of Sara Carratalana In Lourinhã Carpark
The children of Sara are aged between 10 and 17. She was known in Lourinhã for her kindness and for helping the local Hindustani community. But she officially worked as a real estate consultant.
Sara lived with her partner who was a Pakistani man and also her employer. He had been the victim of a violent attack earlier this year. He suffered multiple fractures and spent weeks in the hospital. Police are now investigating whether there is any link between that attack and Sara’s murder.
Sara went with her partner to make a payment on the night she was killed. They drove to the car park behind the Social Security office. Sara got out of the car at around 10 pm. She told her partner to wait in the car and she walked to the car park alone.
Correio da Manhã said:
She got out of the vehicle at 10pm and walked alone to the carpark at the back of Lourinhã Social Security (office). Minutes later she was found, bleeding out, with her throat cut and signs of having been hit over the head
Sara was found lying on the ground and bleeding from her throat after few minutes. A woman who was walking her dog came across her body and called for help. She had also been hit on the head. Emergency services were called but Sara had already died.
Her partner was still waiting for her in the car. He said that I went to look for her when Sara did not return after 10 to 15 minutes. But it was too late. The police arrived shortly after and started their investigation. There have been no arrests till now.
Police Investiagtion For Clues And Evidence
The National Republican Guard (GNR) quickly passed the case to the Judiciary Police (PJ). Police searched the area thoroughly. They also searched recycling bins to find the murder weapon but the knife used in the attack has not been found yet.
Her brother Bruno Silva spoke to SIC Notícias:
From what I have been told, she went to make a payment and (the partner) stayed in the vehicle waiting for her. That’s what he told me over the phone: that she was going to make a payment and said ‘wait a minute and I will be back’. After 10, 15 minutes more or less, she hadn’t returned and he went to look for her
Sara’s partner is not considered a suspect and there are no signs of conflict between them. Investigators are now focusing on other possibilities like whether the earlier attack on her partner could be linked to her murder.
The murder has left Lourinhã residents fearful and confused. These crimes are very rare in the Lourinhã. Locals have expressed how shocked they are that a crime this horrible is possible in their own community.
The location of the murder which is a public car park near the Social Security office has also raised concerns. Sara likely thought she was in a safe area when she went to make the payment. Her murder has sparked discussions about safety in public spaces especially at night.
