14 people have been charged with dangerous driving in Porto district. The people arrested are mostly between the ages of 21 and 34. Police stop illegal street racing in a place called Matosinhos, Porto.
30 Cars Are Seized By The Local Authority
Police have been on alert after a group of drivers have been caught for illegal street racing. The operation carried out by the police has inspected around 200 cars. Guard National Republicans (GNR) have stated these illegal races were being carried out for one and a half years.

Two people have been arrested for driving without a proper legal license and for rigging technical documents. 14 people were arrested for a cause of “dangerous driving”. Apart from this, 37 reports were also filed for offenses related to administrative issues.
23 cars were also seized because they had been modified against the code of law. This was charged after they were inspected by the officials present at the site. 14 offenses related to administrative issues like lack of civil liability insurance, lack of inspection of tires, and other stuff related to cars.
The operation was carried out by Porto Territorial Command. They used the manpower of the Traffic Accident Crime Investigation Unit (NICAV). This is a small detachment of the Porto Traffic unit. The operation was carried out on Friday and Saturday. Police are still dealing with the people who are charged with offenses. All the people arrested were between the ages of 21 and 34.
GNR Warns Citizens Against Illegal Street Racing
It is reported that illegal street racing has been taking place for a very long time. The police became aware of such illegal activities carried out by the people. They gathered all the evidence related to the people involved. A planned operation was carried out to arrest the people involved in these illegal activities. This incident took place in Leça da Palmeira, which is located within Matosinhos.

GNR has reports about many illegal races being carried out by the citizens. It will now focus on all the hideout places where this racing occurs. They have even warned the public about facing serious consequences if anyone is found to be involved. The official statement from the GNR is as follows:
[GNR] Is aware of the growing phenomenon commonly known as ‘Street Racing’, due to the social alarm and the serious consequences of these dangerous events, as well as the fact that they constitute increasingly organized criminal acts, whether of a criminal or administrative nature.
Police Received Complains
The PSP police in Aveiro have also launched raids at some places against illegal street racing. The police believe that they have identified a driver in São João da Madeira. This driver could be held responsible for conducting these races. The individual can be charged with a crime for dangerous driving.
The Police received multiple complaints about illegal street racing in the Travessas industrial area. Action was taken by the São João da Madeira Police Station based on these reports.
